Body-oriented and integrative psychotherapy: Learn to ride the waves of life
Are you struggling to keep your head above water? Do you just keep going because stopping isn’t an option? You’re not alone. You won’t hear me telling you that your life is going smoothly. Honestly? Sometimes it’s crap. There are no easy solutions. What I can do for you, though, is help you broaden your perspective on obstacles by learning to recognize and understand physical signals as messages from your emotions.
What is body-oriented psychotherapy?
Body-oriented psychotherapy is based on the idea that your body absorbs all experiences and emotions and is influenced by them. Your body is capable of processing, bearing, or healing a great deal. But sometimes it’s enough, and then your body sends a signal that something is wrong. If you don’t listen to these messages, emotional blockages can become stuck, which may manifest as pain, illness, or emotions.
Body-oriented therapy teaches you to listen again to what your body is saying. Together with the therapist, you’ll search for the hidden messages and their meaning. You learn to communicate with your body and to express what is going on inside you in a healthy way. In addition to emotional functioning, the body-oriented therapist looks at factors such as body tension, body language, posture, and movement patterns. Through breathing, expression, movement, or touch, you reconnect with yourself and your process.
Body-oriented work is often supported by talk therapy.
How can I help you?
I help adults to overcome emotional blockages. Using an in-depth and empowering approach, we explore different layers of consciousness, unpick complex dynamics, and you’ll discover how you can continue to work on this yourself between sessions and afterwards.

Get to know Niels
Hello, I’m Niels. Since 2024, I have been working as a qualified psychotherapist, supporting people in my practice for somatic psychology in Berchem. My passion for mental wellbeing is deeply rooted in my own life journey. As a young person, I often felt like a fish out of water; adapting to my surroundings seemed the only option at the time, but it meant I drifted further and further away from my true self, and I couldn’t go on like that.
I learnt to let go of the control and limitations in my mind. This journey has enabled me to develop an intuitive understanding of people and situations. Today, I combine this intuition with the professional knowledge gained from my Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy to help others break through their own barriers.
